Etsy Gent Market – April 2016

After lots of meeting, advertising, planning and sleepless nights (mostly for our team captain!) it’s finally here: the first Etsy Gent handmade market! So exciting! This post is brought to you by Veronique, one of the team leaders and owner of MadModesty, selling all things cute!
No pictures of me, since I took them and no one took mine ;o; so you’ll just have to check out my online shop then (;
moving on!

Everyone showed up bright and early to set up at hostel “De Draecke”, who were kind enough to host our event. They’re located  right behind the gorgeous count’s castle of Ghent. Tania, the team captain, got everyone moving to set tables and get ready. Here’s some action shots of people setting up (don’t worry, I’m listing all shops later, so keep reading!)

Getting tired from watching everyone work hard yet? That’s okay, it’s time to introduce everyone!
I didn’t manage to get my table ready by the time we had our first visitors, but I believe most people were ready.

We’ll start with our team captain, Tania! she runs TCAshop, selling pixel art and soft, crocheted blankets.
What really stood out to me, was the Belgian (and ghent) pride! I also had my eye on a super soft, glittery pink blanket. I’m thinking of getting it later for my art room (also pink!) *-*
Something that surprised me when I moved to Ghent, is that everyone is super proud of the soccer team! (you can find loads of blue-white all over Ghent so I think the coasters and blanket make great gift ideas for locals! )

Next up, I ran into Katja! She’s originally from The Netherlands but lives in the heart of Ghent now!
Katja runs the illustrationist, where she sells handmade jewelry and illustrations:

Joining us from Brussels, we have Madeleine! I didn’t get to talk to her much, sadly! But I do love her avocado phone case! 😀
She runs MaddyAnnaJane, and sells really cute, hand painted phone cases!

At the next booth, we find Lies! (pronounced lees, not liar! ) lame language jokes aside, Lies makes truly pretty jewelry over at LiesWambacqJewelry, check it out:

Moving on, we have another super sweet lady from the Netherlands (keep sending us the good stuff, neighbours!): Gon (short for Radegonda)
She says: “with a name like that, I had to turn out an artist!” and she’s right!! I’m absolutely in love with her wind chimes and even though I’m no fan of bugs, her bug hotels are adorable! Go get yours over at Radegonda’s art !

Coming up is another young jewelry artist! I can’t believe how many skilled people we have in our modest group!
Lisbeth is super sweet too ! She’s the owner of LisJewellery :

Nearly concluding room 1, we meet Hendrik! He’s a biologist with an amazing talent at illustration!
You can find him and his stunning watercolours at TheNatureArtist !

aaaannndd finally, another gem from Brussels: Julia! She paints abstracts and they’re amazing!! I usually don’t feel anything particular with abstracts, but Julia’s work has a softness and femininity dat I just adore, and all this without losing dynamics.

I really love the large painting on the right. I’m not doing the colours any justice, but it looked SO beautiful and put me right in a 90’s mood with it’s shapes and colors. Those that don’t know me: I LOVE all things 80’s and 90’s, so this piece really gets to me 😀 I don’t think she intended it this way? I wish I asked! Find her at JuliaCantero !

DSC_0149 DSC_0151 DSC_0152 DSC_0153 DSC_0154Woof! That was quite the list! and we only just finished room 1. There was a second room with even more creativity and amazing people!

I recommend you start by soaking up all the inspiration you can from these people and we’ll be back in a few days with room 2. Take your time and start shopping!

I bought stuff from some of these vendors 🙂 (if I had the money, I would have bought from every seller…)

The witcheshat from Radegonda is already in my garden, a botanical card is ready to give to my mom on sunday and your vicious catbutton is ready to go on my backpack !

Thanks for all the photos to enjoy the market a second time !
